Mary H.  Alford

Mary Helen “Jackie” Alford of 4380 Seneca Road, Trumansburg passed away at Hospicare on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the age of 92.

Born on March 28, 1922 in Burgin, Kentucky Mary was a daughter of the late John W. and Laura (Benson) Lucas.

Mary attended the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing and Nazareth College, Louisville, Kentucky from 1942-1944. She graduated from Ithaca School of Nursing in 1965 and was employed as a nurse at the Tompkins County Hospital for many years. Mary was a member of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 Auxiliary in Trumansburg.

Mary is survived by a son David (Helen) Alford of Trumansburg; a daughter Judy (Chester) Houseworth of Ithaca; 3 granddaughters, Melissa Sue Houseworth, Sarah Tomborelli of Trumansburg, and Laurie Weaver of Colorado; 4 grandsons, Brian and Lucas Houseworth of Ithaca, Russell Weaver of Lodi, and Wayne Weaver of Lansing; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alford in 2006.

In keeping with Mary’s wishes no calling hours have been scheduled. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
