Mary Alice Shaw Shriner, 93, of 1229 Trumansburg Road, died at Lakeside Nursing Home on November 15, 2007 after a long illness. Born December 5, 1913, Mary was a lifelong resident of the Searsburg, Perry City, and Trumansburg area. Mary was the daughter of the late Seneca and Nellie Roberts Shaw of Perry City.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. (Huskey) Shriner, who died in January 2000. Also predeceasing Mary were three brothers, Milton, Stanley, and Leslie Shaw; two sisters Mabel Shaw Otis and Lucy Shaw Hochstein; and one sister in-law Eleanor Shaw.
Mary is survived by a son, Harold A. Shriner of Trumansburg; one sister in-law, Ethel Shaw of Connecticut; a cousin, Nathalla Shaw of Lakeland, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from Trumansburg School in 1935 and devoted her life to family, community, and church. She was a member of the Perry City Friends Church, and in earlier years was active in Missionary Society, Ladies Aid, Home Bureau, and Sunday School. Her passion was teaching Sunday School, which she did with dedication for over forty years in Perry City. Mary was also a member of Trumansburg Senior Citizens.
In keeping with Mary's wishes no calling hours are scheduled. Prayers of Committal will be scheduled and announced in the spring of 2008 at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
