Millicent (Robinson) Tubbs

April 2, 1928 — September 7, 2021

Trumansburg

Millicent Robinson Tubbs of Trumansburg passed away peacefully Sept 7, 2021, at home with family.

She was born April 2, 1928, in Guilderland, NY and was a cheerleader and valedictorian of her 20-member class at Altamont HS. She graduated from the first class of SUNY at Albany, and married Howard in 1953. Ten years later they moved to Camden, NY, where they opened a pharmacy and started raising their two daughters. After too many winters in the snow belt, they moved to Trumansburg and bought Holton’s Pharmacy, now Kinney. Milli handled bookkeeping and the gift section, and generally kept things running on track. She loved to travel. After retirement, she and Howard visited all 50 states, and Milli went on to many countries in Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Winters were spent on the Gulf Coast, and in Phoenix and Santa Cruz, CA, where she became a beach lover.  Milli was the original Match.com: twice she introduced friends who wound up happily married for life. For several years she led the Gemm Shop and the T-burg Chamber of Commerce, she volunteered at the hospital and her church for decades, taught Sunday School, and hosted 2 exchange students. She was constantly knitting, and produced over 1000 items for others: prayer shawls, baby booties and blankets, hats, mittens, sweaters, afghans, and a long time ago, argyle socks for her husband. Milli was one of thousands of direct descendants of John Robinson, pastor of the Pilgrims.

Milli is survived by two daughters, Sue Crawford of Freeville and Nancy Tubbs of Trumansburg, a granddaughter, Carolyn Crawford of Lansing, a sister Marilyn (Bernard) Neadle, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Howard P. Tubbs, her sister Marjorie (Carl) McClarty, her parents Donald and Gertrude, and her son-in-law Steven Crawford.

A celebration of her life will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 25 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses.

Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, Box 597, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
