Morgan R. Swanhart

October 3, 1962 — August 9, 2023

Van Etten

Morgan R. Swanhart, 60, lost his long battle with cancer surrounded by family on August 9, 2023.

Morgan was born on October 3, 1962. He grew up in Trumansburg and graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 1981. He was the fifth of six Swanhart brothers. Morgan's love for cars guided his career in auto mechanics, working at Maguire's as an auto technician and later at Ithaca College as a supervisor of Grounds and Transportation. He retired to work on his Camaro in 2019.

Morgan loved his grandchildren. He attended football games, track meets, dance recitals, Girl Scout ceremonies, and music concerts. He was so proud of them.

Morgan enjoyed hunting on his land, spending time in his tree stands, and checking out animals on his trail camera. He was an avid fan of Nascar and tried not to miss a race. Morgan spent a lot of time in his garage working on cars. People would just stop by with a car problem, and Morgan was always there to help them. He helped many friends and family throughout the years with their automobiles.

Morgan is survived by his wife of 23 years, LuAnn(Centra). He leaves behind a son, John Swanhart, a mother, Susanne Swanhart, and brothers, Mark (Barb) Swanhart, Mitchell (Mary Gallagher) Swanhart, Miles (Kathy) Swanhart, and Mason (Julie) Swanhart, step-sons Hayden (Sarah) Brainard, C. Micheal (Lynette) Brainard and T. Andrew Heslop. He also leaves behind grandchildren Ava-Lynn Swanhart, Lily Ana Brainard, Madeline Brainard, Dean Brainard, Lincoln Brainard, and William Brainard, among many nieces and nephews. Morgan was preceded in death by his father, Richard Swanhart, and brother Matthew Swanhart.

The Swanhart and Brainard families would like to thank friends and family who have supported Morgan in his battle with cancer. We are grateful for the doctors and nurses who helped Morgan throughout the years.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday August 17, 2023 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street Trumansburg NY.
