Nanette S. Butler

Nanette S. Butler of Trumansburg passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the age of 69.

Nan was born in Cortland on August 27, 1949, a daughter of the late Raymond and Emma (Kinsman) VanOrman. She worked at the New York Telephone Company and Shur Save in Trumansburg before taking a position as bank teller at Tompkins Trust Company where she worked for 21 years. Nan’s pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her unconditional love for them, as well as her own children, was shown daily. Nan was there for nearly every sporting event and never missed an opportunity to support all of her grandchildren.

Nan is survived her husband of 37 years, Wayne Butler; two children, Jeremy (Kristen) Butler and Cahill (Jennifer) Butler; five beloved grandchildren, Tucker, Mason, Emma, Allison, and Rylee Butler; siblings, Terrel (Pam) VanOrman, Bernard Van Orman, and Alice (Robert) Nash; and a large group of family and friends. In addition to her parents, Nan was preceded in death by her brother, Ray VanOrman.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow from Noon to 3:00pm, on Sunday, at the Interlaken Sportmen’s Club, 8561 Tunison Road, Interlaken.
