Owen Ellis, James

James Owen Ellis-age 56 of Newfield formerly of Trumansburg passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006 at his residence. He was the son of the late Robert Seacord Ellis and Etta Mae Holmes. He graduated from Trumansburg High School and served his country in the US Army from 1968-1971. He was honorably discharged with the National Service Medal Marksman .45 and also a Sharpshooter M-14 medal. Prior to his illness he was co-owner of G&J Mechanics. Jimmy enjoyed reading and watching his hummingbirds. He had an immense love and respect for nature and spent a lot of time down by his pond feeding the golden and rainbow trout. Jimmy was a member of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 in Trumansburg.

Jimmy is survived by one brother Robert "Blaze" Ellis of Trumansburg; two aunts, Lorraine "Rainy" (Howard) Boyce of Lodi and Rosie O'Connell of Florida; one uncle, Jack (Bonnie) Ellis of Florida; two cousins, Danny K. O'Connell of Florida and Laurie VanOstrand of Williamson and his long time friend Dawn Reeves of Trumansburg. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carlene "Granny" Ellis, his grandfather, Robert Ellis and one uncle, Dan O'Connell of Florida.

There will be a celebration of Jimmy's life at the Falls Restaurant and Tavern, 214 East Main Street, Trumansburg on Sunday, April 23, 2006 from 2-4pm.
