Patricia A. Austic of Trumansburg passed away peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center on December 10, 2020 at the age of 79.
Patricia was born in Seneca Falls on September 23, 1941, a daughter to the late Harry and Lucille (Cooper) Thompson. She grew up in Trumansburg NY and graduated from Trumansburg Central Schools. Pat always put her family first, immediate and extended. Shortly after her marriage to Richard “Dick” Austic, the newlyweds embarked on a trip across country to California. While there, Pat supported him through his grad school career by working at UC Davis. First to create draft deferment letters for those enrolled in college and later as a secretary in the Viticulture and Enology Department. Pat and Dick started their family while in California and continued to grow it when they moved permanently back to the Ithaca area. She was the most loving and caring mother there could be to her three girls. She then returned to the workforce for 25 years at Cornell University at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, retiring as an Associate Registrar. Pat was fond of bowling and playing cards with her friends and family. In retirement, she also spent her time volunteering at the Ulysses Historical Society and as an election inspector for the Town of Covert Elections. Pat was known by many as a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, but will always be remembered as the glue that kept her family together.
Patricia is survived by the love of her life, husband of 57 years, Richard Austic; her daughters, Karen Austic, Susan (Scott) Peters and Nancy Case; her grandchildren, David Grant, Daniel (Veronica), Eric and Jenny Peters, and Christian Case; her sisters, Mary Ann Richar and Jean (Jay) Russell; her dear aunt, Shirley Cooper; and a large extended family of brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lawton.
