Patricia J. Plataniotis

Patricia Jean Plataniotis, a lifelong Trumansburg resident known fondly as "Aunt Pat", passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the age of 68.

Born, November 9, 1939 at Aunt Bert Selover's house on Kingtown Rd., Trumansburg, Pat was a daughter of the late Clifford MacCheyne and Marion Goodrich (Aunt Mermie).

While a student at Trumansburg High School, Pat waited tables at Cronk's in Interlaken and Aunt Mike's Snack Bar in Trumansburg. After graduating in 1957, Pat worked in Day Hall at Cornell as a Keypunch Operator, then at The College Spa, The Rosebud, What's Your Beef, Taughannock Farms and The American Legion Post 770. No one could deny what a great waitress she was. Pat met so many nice people throughout her career, and so many of them have remained lifelong friends.

A wonderful friend to those lucky enough to know her, Pat was a fixture in the T-Burg community in her minivan with "Aunt Pap" vanity plates. She loved life and believed in living it to the fullest. She was a brilliant mathematician, enjoyed square dancing and the jitterbug, bowling, playing darts, Fish Fry's at the Legion, Bingo, working the Legion Tent at various functions, collecting elephants, a lover of Nascar, and enjoyed a good game of euchre. In keeping with her generous spirit and helping others, Pat donated her beautiful corneas so another could be blessed with the gift of sight.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by J. Lewis Raymond, Nora (Aunt Mike) MacCheyne Raymond, Dorla J. Raymond Cronk and Raymond L. MacCheyne.

She is survived by Deborah I. Nottke, Stevey MacCheyne, Vanessa Willard, Ben Willard, Mike Willard, and a community that will keep her memory alive and well.

Those who wish to remember Pat in the form of a contribution are asked to kindly consider the charity of one's choice.

Pat's personality naturally put a smile on faces and warmth in hearts of those around her. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and most often had a zinger to keep everyone on their toes. In keeping with Pat's vivacious spirit her family has scheduled a time of celebration on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770, corner of Rt. 96 & Seneca Road, Trumansburg. Food will be provided. Those who attend are asked to be casual and come with a fond memory of Aunt Pat in your heart and perhaps a zinger of your own to share.
