Albert R. Moore of 5036 County Road #26, Dundee, (formerly of Trumansburg), passed away unexpectedly while surrounded by family at the Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the age of 69.

Born in Willseyville, New York on March 29, 1934, Al was the son of Roy Philip and Margaret Stillman Moore.

Following graduation from the Lansing High School in 1952, Al entered the US Air Force. He faithfully served during the Korean Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge on March 12, 1955.

Al was employed by the NY Telephone Company in Ithaca for 31 years before retiring in 1985.

Throughout his life Al was a dedicated member of the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Department. He had served as Chief of the Department and was elected to the honored position of life member on April 19, 1986 following 25 years of outstanding service. Al was also an active member of the Tompkins County Fireman's Assn. for over 20 years and received their esteemed award for "Fireman of the Year" on May 1, 1982.

Boy Scouts and the Explorers organizations were an important part of Al's life as was his service to Christ. He worked countless hours at the Word of Life Campground in Schroon Lake and SOWERS (Servants on Wheels Ever Ready). He also enjoyed hunting, camping and wood-working. Al cherished the time spent with family and was the #1 fan of his grandchildren during their sporting events. His smile and words of encouragement will be sorely missed.

Al is survived by his devoted wife, of 47 years, Eleanor J. Monroe Moore of Dundee; four daughters, Cindy Moore of Denver, CO, Rosie Moore of Lansing, Nancy (Rob) Bogardus of Groton and Tammy (Mike) Milliman of Lansing; four grandchildren, Brian and Nolan Milliman and Tyler and Brenden Bogardus; three sisters, Laura (Cecil) Teeter of Newfield, Geraldine (Rod) Hatfield of Lansing and Joan (Bob) Shelton of Ithaca; one brother, Roy (Diane) Moore of Lansing and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. David Nelson and the Rev. Gerald Vanaman
