Kenneth "Kenny" Reeves, 81, of 6239 Bower Road, Trumansburg, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 5, 2003 while surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 12, 1922, in Lodi, NY, was the son of Walter and Addie (Emerson) Reeves.
Kenny's passion for guitar playing kept him entertaining crowds throughout his life with many bands. Most of his musical career was spent playing with his band "Old Tyme Country" playing most at the Applegate Tavern and the Barangus. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #666 in Ithaca.
He enjoyed spending time at home as a Gentlemen Farmer with a deep appreciation for nature. He spent a lot of time under his pavilion, where the rain would give him peace.
Preceding Kenny in death were is son, Kenneth (Jiggs) Reeves; a daughter, Linda Reeves; and his sisters, Marion Monogan, Laura Collier and Lucy George.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances A. Reeves of Trumansburg; five sons, James and William of Enfield, Walter of Goshen, CT, and Jason and Jesse of Trumansburg; a daughter, Linda Prinzhorn of Wallingford, CT; two daughters-in-law, Lynda Reeves of Goshen, CT, and Yvonne Reeves of Enfield; one brother, Donald of Junction City, KS; and one sister, Kathryn Randall of Ithaca. He has 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, with another due in December, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenny is also survived by his Black Lab "Princess" and last but not least, his many friends and fellow guitar players and musicians that accompanied him with his love and dedication to the playing of country music for over 65 years.
The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from 5-8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Pete Hood officiating. Prayers of Committal will follow at the Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden.
