Ransom L. “Jim” Royce of Enfield passed away at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the age of 83.
Jim was born in Richford on May 8, 1931, a son of the late Clifford and Virginia (Leonard) Royce. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and served his country during the Korean War until being honorably discharged in 1953. Jim drove tractor trailers from coast to coast for a number of years before taking a position at Cornell University as a shuttle bus driver. After 25 years of dedicated service, Jim retired from Cornell.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Shirleyann Royce; three children, James Royce, Debra McGee, and Clifford (Tracy) Royce; four grandchildren, Brandon McGee, Courtney (Cory) Barkman, Joshua Royce, and Amber Royce; five great grandchildren, Madison, Kacie, Ryan, Brantley, and Mason; a sister, Gladys Thorton; a brother, Robert (Dorothy) Royce; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Kevin Royce; four sisters; and a brother.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
