Raymond Snyder, Edward

d. October 2, 2005

Edward Raymond Snyder, age 34, of Freeville, (formerly of Trumansburg), passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 2, 2005 from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Born on December 4, 1970, Ed was the son of Edward J. Snyder and Arlene F. Foster Snyder of Trumansburg. Following graduation from the Trumansburg High School in 1989, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He faithfully served his country during Operation Desert Storm and received an Honorable Discharge in 1995.

Eddie had a passion for anything with a motor, especially snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, boats and motorcycles. He was not only exhilarated by the wind in his face but also by the purring of the motor beneath him. Ed exercised his talents as a mechanic at Royal Hyundai in Ithaca by day and nights and week-ends were often spent riding or fixing something motorized. Ed shared his enthusiasm for the outdoors with his nieces and nephews and there never seemed to be a dull moment when Uncle Eddie was around. He also devoted time to his maternal grandparents whenever they needed assistance of any kind. Whether Ed was a friend or a family member, his memory will forever warm the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Ed in death were his Paternal Grandparents, Raymond and Mildred Snyder and his Maternal Great-Grandmother, Winnie "Nein" Fox. He is survived by his parents, Edward J. and Arlene F. Snyder of Trumansburg; one sister, Kim Wooden Giannella (Mario) of Knoxville, TN; one brother, David J. Snyder (Heather) of Trumansburg; two nephews, Tyler and Travis Wooden; one niece, Madison Snyder, one step-niece, Kortney Vickory; Maternal Grandparents, Ed and Edith Foster of Trumansburg and several aunts and uncles.

The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 from 6-8 pm.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 4443 E. Seneca Rd., Trumansburg on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Pete Hood officiating. Prayers of Committal will follow at Grove Cemetery with a Military Honors Tribute performed by members of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770, Trumansburg.

Contributions in Ed's memory may be directed to the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
