On May 19, 2023, our beloved Ray passed from this earthly world to be able to walk tall among those who have gone before him. He faced so many challenges head on during his remarkable life. All of them were met with optimism, enthusiasm and humor. Memories of our times together will help us accept the loss of his wonderful spirit.
Ray was a graduate of Trumansburg Central School, after attending Newfield Central School for many years. In 1981 his life changed forever after sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury in a motorcycle accident in Florida where he had moved with friends after graduation. Over the next 40 years he made a new life back here in Trumansburg, where family and friends were always there for him. In recent years his physical challenges increased, and he was lovingly cared for by his caregiver, Lori Gale, for 15 years. They became fast friends, and enjoyed life by cruising, traveling in their wheelchair van, and going to restaurants far and wide.
Family was the most important to Ray, as he was to his family. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Bill and Cecile Bonsall whom he was especially close to; Walter and Albertine Miller, his father, Raymond Miller, Sr. and his step-brother, Jim Ennis.
Ray is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Linda and Larry Ennis, his beloved brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Bernice Miller, and his loving nieces, Kristen (Duncan) Anderson, and Kelsey (Matt) Crough. He was overjoyed to have a precious little grand-niece, Ashe Anderson, and was awaiting 2 more grand babies. He is survived by his aunt Patricia Bonsall, cousins Paul Vorhis, and Jeff (Lilly) Vorhis, and their children Vann and Ivy. He is also survived by his extended family, sister-in-law Jody Ennis, and niece, Tammy (Justin) Gentilcore and little Jordan, and several more aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a graveside gathering for family and friends at the East Lawn Cemetery, 934 Mitchell Street, Ithaca, NY, 14850 on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 4:00pm.
