Richard C.  Boyce

d. June 13, 2013

Richard C. Boyce, of Brockport, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the age of 74.

Born on July 30, 1938, Richard was the son of the late Clifford and Ruth (Vergason) Boyce. After graduating from Williamsville High School in 1956, Richard joined the United States Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1962. He went to work for Durez Chemical for several years before accepting a position as a millwright at Kodak in Rochester. Following his retirement in 1991, Richard and his wife Eunice grew many varieties of vegetables and operated their own farm stand.

Richard was truly a jack of all trades and was lovingly referred to as “Mr. Fix-it” by family members. He enjoyed car racing and completing body work on all types of cars. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren whether it was taking them hunting, enjoying time at the camp, or teasing them around the yard.

Richard is survived by his wife, Eunice W. Boyce of Brockport; three children, Richard Boyce of Brockport, Cindy VandeBogart of Melbourne, FL, and Tricia Hundley of Floral City, FL; two step children, Robert Cary Jr. (JoAnn Meli) of Albion and David (Tammie) Cary of OK; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cherry Wessemen of TX and Barbara Ann (Jim) Dirschidel of FL; and a daughter in law, Tammy Cary.

The family asks those who wish to make a contribution in Richard’s memory to kindly consider the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Road, 2nd FloorSyracuse, New York 13057 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
