Born May 25, 1945 to Esther (Perduyn) and Jasper Garner in Quincy MA, Dick died peacefully on August 24, 2018 (age 73). At the end of World War II his father bought the local bowling alley in Trumansburg, NY and they moved to Whig Street when Dick was 5 years old. He was recruited by IBM and began a successful career in computer science, traveling the world and working with major companies like Nike and WalMart and with heads of state in many countries in the South Pacific, Europe and Africa.

One highlight was his role in the creation of Cornell’s Super Computer Lab. His final assignments were in Dubai and Jordan. During his long career he also worked for the Ithaca City School District, various startup companies in Syracuse and ELM Resources in Oakland, CA.

Dick contributed to the life of Trumansburg by serving on the School Board, Town Planning and Zoning Boards and running for village mayor and trustee. He had many hobbies including antique cars, biking, aviation and the open road.
