Richard C. “Dick” Stevenson of Ithaca passed away at home on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 95.

Dick was born in Ithaca on January 2, 1928, the eldest son of the late Laurence H. and Marjorie (Jackson) Stevenson. He began school in a one room school house in Enfield before attending Ithaca City Schools where he graduated. A World War II Navy veteran, he honorably served his country spending a large portion of his time in the service at Sampson Navy Base in Romulus. Following his service to his country Dick attended Cornell University.  Dick had a long career at Morse Chain/Emerson, retiring as a product manager.

He was a proud member of the Trumansburg Masonic Lodge #157 F&AM and was awarded the Dedicated Service Award for years of participation. Dick was also a member of the Ithaca City Club, Groton and Lansing Senior Groups, Sampson WWII Veteran’s Association, and the First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca where he was a member of various committees and served as an elder and deacon. In his free time, Dick enjoyed gardening, bowling, and golfing at Hillendale Golf Course, participating in multiple leagues.

Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Stevenson; two children, Greg (Sherry) Stevenson and Karen (David) DeOlden; grandson, Vaughn Stevenson-Edgar; brother, Ramon Stevenson; cousins, Joyce Clark, Marilyn Smith, and Janet Elder; and a large extended family including Norma’s clan in the Pittsburgh, PA area. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by cousins, Jim (Georgianna) Stevenson, Keith Stevenson, Ted (Pat) Stevenson, Beverly Burritt, and sister-in-law Marge Stevenson.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, March 17 at First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca, 315 North Cayuga Street, Ithaca.
