Richard Wayne (Rick) Marion, 61, of Trumansburg, NY, died unexpectedly on February 14th.
Rick founded Reasonable Roofing following his graduation from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 1978. He was an entrepreneur for over thirty years completing his career at PJ Apartments where he worked with some of his best friends. Rick had the biggest heart of anyone you could know, though he was quite stoic at times. He would help anyone with anything even if it meant asking his wife to find a video on YouTube to teach him how to do it. He was never held back by the thoughts of others and truly did not care that fanny packs were silly looking; they were the perfect size for his flashlights, knives, and metal detecting finds on the go. He wore his heart on his sleeve and his phone strapped to his swim shorts. Rick’s true passion was the outdoors. He grew up hunting and fishing and spent vacations in the Adirondacks with his family. Rick had many talents from his self-taught drumming to gardening and metal detecting; however, his most notable talent was his way with people. He loved to talk and laugh and show those around him the importance of human connection. Rick's many stories, lessons and laughs will remain in the hearts of his dear family and friends.
Left to treasure his memory is the love of life, his wife Karyn; children Katherine (Jerry) Gilligan, Michael (Melinda) Fries, Gregory, Virginia, and Allyson; siblings Randall (Debbie) and Connie (Harry) Washut; an aunt, Betty Marion; an uncle, Dick Cook; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son Joseph (2005) and his parents, Clinton and Doris (Cook).
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 22 from 4-6pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home in Trumansburg. A prayer service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's memory may be made to the American Legion Post 770, Trumansburg; Tunnels to Towers Foundation 2361 Highland Blvd, Staten Island, NY or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. –“Don’t waste good.” – “Rule #9”
