Robert G. Grunder

Robert G. “Bob” Grunder, age 83 of Trumansburg, died October 4, 2014.

Bob was the son of Carl and Harriet Grunder, both deceased of Corning, New York. He graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1950 and University of New York - Alfred in 1958. He served during the Korean War on the USS Preston DD795. He was employed by Babcock Poultry Farm for twenty-five years, retiring as a Vice President. He later built and operated a poultry farm in Covert, NY for twenty years. He was a Life Member of Tin Can Sailors, VFW Post 961, member of American Legion Post 770, and a Senior Member of Trumansburg G.O.M.'s.

Bob is survived by his wife Elise (Lee) Grunder of 61 years; a daughter Mary Pell (Greg) Bidwell of Lake Carmel, NY; three sons Stephen (Kristin) Grunder of Rome, NY, William (Shiloh) Grunder and John (Deborah) Grunder both of Trumansburg, NY; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Kenton, Alison, Marie, Robert, Elise, Samantha, Austin; and one great-grandson, Parker. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Barbara, Donald, and Carol.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Church of the Epiphany, 11 Elm Street, Trumansburg. Prayers of Committal will be held privately at the family’s convenience.
