Robert Lincoln Bishop passed away peacefully in the comfort of his son’s home April 7, 2012, at the age of 87. He is now joined with his wife and forever love, Laura in the arms of God.
He is survived by his son, William D. Bishop (Brigitte Alger), two granddaughters; Rachel, Rebecca, as well as their mother Kathy Bishop, one grandson; Shane, several nieces and nephews, good friend Nancy Mac Carrick, and his cats Stubby and Butch.
As veteran of the US Navy, Bob served his country during WWII. He then began his career at NYSEG as a lineman then transferred to the UCM department until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Trumansburg Rifle & Pistol Club, the Land of the Senecas Muzzle Loading Club, and the Trumansburg American Legion Post #770.
Bob enjoyed the simple things in life like his morning coffee, watching hummingbirds, gardening, antique cars, and spending time with loved ones. Bob’s face was a familiar one within the Jacksonville and surrounding community. His genuine concern for others inspired and touched many lives. The only thing he ever asked for in return was “a smile and a few kind words”. Bob’s contagious smile and warmhearted presence will not be soon forgotten.
Friends may call Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg from 6 to 8 pm.
