Robert J. “Robby” Moracco of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the age of 59.
Robby was born in Ithaca on April 5, 1963, a son of the late Albert and Eugenia (Cronk) Moracco. He graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 1981 and was an avid wrestler throughout high school. Robby worked at Richard’s at Tri County Lanes from 1978 to 1997 before working at Helen Newman Bowling Lanes at Cornell. Robby was instrumental in maintaining and resurfacing the lanes at the bowling alleys, a task few people can handle. Most recently Robby was employed as a cook at Ron Don’s Village Pub.
He enjoyed trips to the 1000 Islands, raising German short haired pointers, snowmobiling, rooting for the Washington Redskins, tinkering with mechanics, and NASCAR. Robby was a proud owner of an official 1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, was known as the “Mayor of Stewart Park,” and was a highly competitive Easter Egg Hunt participant.
He loved inviting friends back to his Wing Shack where he would make his famous wing sauce.
Robby affectionately took on many nicknames such as Rob, Robby, Ro, Robear Charlie, Reef, and Sarah Lee. Please feel free to share any other names the family may have missed.
Robby is survived by his siblings, James (Stacy) Moracco, Nancy Moracco, Lisa (Debbie) Moracco, Suzanne (Donald) Scott, and Stephen (Kari) Moracco; nieces, Jennifer DiCicco, Jessica Haight, Suzanne Cheesman, and Annaliina Moracco; and great nieces, Isabella Mayo and Sofia Tedesco. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Moracco.
The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg.
