Roger R. Mcomber

Roger R. McOmber, age 89, of 1128 Trumansburg Road, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, following recent cancer diagnosis.

Roger was born in Lowville, New York on June 18, 1932, a son of the late Brayton and Mildred (Countryman) McOmber.  Following high school in Lowville, he attended SUNY Delhi for two years, and then proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952-1956. Roger married Priscilla Seely on October 14, 1956.  He had a long career as a union carpenter, specializing in ceiling tile work through the local union in Ithaca.  Together he and Priscilla were members of the Jacksonville UMC and had many happy years together, enjoying their family, friends and community.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Priscilla McOmber; a daughter, Pam (Buck Frederick) McOmber of Mexico, NY; a son, Mark (Diane) McOmber of Gettysburg, PA; his granddaughters, Hannah McOmber of Gettysburg and Sarah Zentz of California; a sister, Marie Adams of Liverpool and their extended families.

Roger was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ralph of Winnipeg, Canada and brother, Harold of Ithaca.

A private graveside service with military honors was held at Frear Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Roger’s life will be planned for his family and friends in the summer of 2022.
