Ronald L.  Myers

Ronald L. Myers of Trumansburg passed away at home with family by his side on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 82.

Ron was born in Hannibal, Missouri on October 28, 1933, a son of the late Charles and Anne (Elgin) Myers. After graduating high school, Ron attended college at the University of Missouri where he was a member of ROTC and graduated with a Bachelors of Science. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to1958. In 1987, Ron accepted a position at Babcock Farms where he worked as General Manager until retiring in 2006.

Ron was an active member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, always lending a helping hand with anything needing to be done from assisting with coffee hour to caring for the lawn. He was an extremely gifted vocalist, singing in the choir at church and recording several CD’s over the years. Ron was a volunteer at Cayuga Medical Center and enjoyed tending to his flower beds at home. He especially took interest in his grandchildren and always enjoyed hearing about the various activities they each were a part of.

Ron is survived by three children, David (Kathy Siemianowski) Myers, Kevin (Sandra Jensen) Myers, and Linda (Joseph) Rorke; five grandchildren, Kate and Jenny Myers, and Jacob, James, and Brady Rorke; a brother, Larry (Nancy) Myers; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo Myers in 2012.

The family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 East Main Street, Trumansburg. Prayers of Committal with Military Honors will follow at Grove Cemetery.
