Rosalind L. Switzer

Rosalind L. "Peggy" Switzer of Ithaca, age 89, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at Cayuga Medical Center. Born May 5, 1918 in Candor, NY, Peggy was the daughter of John and Luella (Whipple) Humiston. At the age of 15, she moved to Trumansburg, where she spent most of her life.

Along with being a homemaker, Peggy was employed by the Trumansburg Central Schools, working in the cafeteria for over 20 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, as well as being involved in Home Bureau and a bowling league. Peggy enjoyed crocheting, and over the years her hands lovingly made many afghans.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Richard F. Switzer who passed away on May 13, 1989.

Peggy is survived by her sons Edward M. (Janet) Switzer of Trumansburg, NY, Glenn E. Switzer of Hunstville, AL, Sam M. Switzer of Charlotte, NC, Lyman B. (Cheryl) Switzer of Deland, FL, and Carl R. (Kay) Switzer of Charlotte, NC; a daughter Norma Wigden of Penn Yan, NY; sisters Anita Thomas of Owego, NY, and Beatrice Hallett of Wilseyville, NY; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 6-8pm at the Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Bradley St, Trumansburg, and on Friday December 21, 2007 from 1-2pm at Calvary Baptist Church. Services will be held, at the church, at 2:00pm officiated by Rev. Timothy Hamilton, assisted by Rev. Larry Wigden.
