Born on January 7, 1928 in Hornell, NY, Ruth was the daughter of the late Myra Beyea Jones and William Jones.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Burns; daughter, Mary Myra; sons, William Burns and Thomas Burns; sister, Mary Johnson; and brothers Ford, William, and Ellsworth.
