Batavia

Sharon Lee Thompson of Batavia and formerly of Ovid and Odessa, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, in Batavia, New York, at the age of 84.

Born on February 25, 1941, in Rochester, she touched the lives of many through her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Sharon embarked on a fulfilling career as a nurses aide at various institutions including the VA Hospital and Elm Manor Nursing Home in Canandaigua, as well as Lake Side Nursing Home in Ithaca. She also worked as a housekeeper at Marriott and Ramada in Ithaca. Her passion for caring for people extended far beyond her profession; it was woven into the very fabric of who she was. Sharon treated everyone she encountered like family, making time to listen, to share stories, and to brighten their days with her infectious warmth.

Sharon embodied a spirit of kindness. Her personality shone brightly through her love of baking, where she created delightful treats that brought joy to those she cherished. She found tranquility in crocheting, crafting beautiful hats for newborns that she lovingly donated to local hospitals. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Sharon was deeply committed to her family's well-being. She gave them everything she could, and her nurturing nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Sharon leaves behind her children; Lisa (John) Donahue, Christopher Goodie, Carol (Kevin) Jackson, Tammy (Richard) Thomas, and Courtney (Matthew) Pursell; three stepchildren, Christina (Robert) Mitchell, Corey (Jamie) Thompson, and Brenda (Bob) Jansch; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Wilson and Eleanor Henry; her first husband, Joseph Goodie Jr.; her second husband, Robert Thompson Jr.; her son, Timothy (Dee Heale) Henry; grandchildren Ashley and Anthony Bradford and Joshua Bachelor; and her siblings, George Henry, Suzanne Kahn, and Patricia Manwarren.
