Sharon L. Calkins

Sharon L. Calkins of Trumansburg passed away at Upstate Medical Center surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the age of 78.

Sharon was born in Binghamton on May 13, 1938, a daughter of the late Raymond and Francis (Fiske) Harris. In 1962 she began working at Cornell University and remained there until retiring in 2002 as an office manager. Sharon enjoyed singing and was a member of Harmony Falls for many years. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and beloved Rottweiler’s, Adolf, Bubba, and Karma.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 46 years, Roger Calkins; six children, Michael Bryan, Randy (Donna) Bryan, Penny Bryan, Terry Jackson, Charles Calkins, and Valarie (Craig) Kranz; four grandchildren, Dustin Burgess, Shane Bryan, Natosha Corl, and Ashley (Jake) Ulacco; two great grandchildren, Adrianna and Bryson Corl; brother, Paul Harris; two sisters in law, Eva (Bill) Siegard and Sharon Calkins; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Jackson; and a sister, Audrey Finch.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Prayer of committal will follow at Grove Cemetery. At the family’s request, please dress casually.
