Sheila M. Shaw died unexpectedly on December 28, 2023 due to a tragic bicycle accident. She was 47 years old. Sheila had an extended family and connections with many friends. She was battling many sources of pain, as best she could. She attended Trumansburg Central School and earned her GED in 1986, then worked at numerous retail and similar jobs, when she was able. Spinal and related injuries and disabilities impaired her goal to be productively employed.
Sheila was raised by Bill and Gail Shaw of Trumansburg, who adopted her and her brother, Wayne A. Shaw in 1982. She valued their ongoing support and care in her adulthood, as well.
Sheila brought warmth and humor to all who knew her. She struggled with providing early childcare for her children and addictions that compounded her relationships and ability to raise those she bore and loved. Nonetheless, she stayed in contact with many in their adulthood.
Sheila had a long and loving relation with her birth mother, Cheryl Martin, of Little Falls, N.Y. She was predeceased by her birth father, Wayne Martin.
Sheila was survived by her parents, Bill and Gail Shaw, her brother, Wayne Shaw, a maternal uncle, Lynn Naylor of Ovid, N.Y. and many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins on her paternal side, and maternal aunt and cousin of Portland, OR.
