Shirley E. Williams

Shirley E. Williams of Trumansburg passed away at Beechtree Care Center on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the age of 79.

Shirley was born on February 17, 1936 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Elmer and Jessie (White) Matthews. She worked as a laundry attendant for many years at various places, including Tompkins County Hospital and Cornell Laundry. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, doing needlepoint, and spending time near the creek at her home on Rabbit Run. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her family at reunions and gatherings.

Shirley is survived by three children, Jessie (Don Letts) Williams, John “Butch” (Beth VanGasbeck) Williams Jr., and Reuben (Karen) Williams; six grandchildren, Kimmy and Nikki Letts, Tash, Mike, and Duke Williams, and Jennifer Boynton; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Williams Sr.; and a great grandson, Kody Boynton.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg.
