Show-Chi Wang

Show-Chi Wang of 7550 Willow Creek Road, Trumansburg, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the age of 62. At the time of his passing, he was in the midst of enjoying a beautiful upstate New York day with a bicycle ride around Cayuga Lake.

Born on January 13, 1941 in Shanghai, China, Show-Chi was the son of H.C. Wang and V.Y. Ku Wang. He was raised in Taipei, Taiwan and emigrated to the U.S. in 1965.

Show-Chi pursued his higher education in the U.S., obtaining three Masters degrees-Industrial Engineering from New York University, Applied Math from SUNY Binghamton and Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont.

A devoted family man, Show-Chi and his wife, Shirley, lived in the Southern Tier of New York for nearly 30 years, where they raised four sons and where Show-Chi was employed by IBM Endicott. He retired in January of 1996 as a Senior Engineer at IBM and Lecturer at SUNY Binghamton.

In April of 1996 Show-Chi and Shirley moved to Trumansburg and founded the Reunion House Bed and Breakfast. In the ensuing years Show-Chi and Shirley enjoyed working side-by-side making new friends, renewing old friendships and creating wonderful memories. They also thoroughly enjoyed retired life-the rhythms and quietude of their routine around Reunion House and traveling extensively during their off-season.

Show-Chi especially treasured the beautiful, understated surroundings around his home, exploring the areas in and around Taughannock Falls State Park and Cayuga Lake with runs, hikes and bike rides. His positive energy, quiet influence and gentle smile will be forever embedded in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Show-Chi is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Shirley Chou Wang; four sons--Albert of Shanghai, China, Benjamin currently of Los Angeles, California, Christopher currently of Port Townsend, Washington and Dennis of New York, New York; sister, Johanna Chao of Boston; nephews, Michael Chao (wife Lucinda and daughter Roxanne), Mark Chao (wife Miyoko, daughter Francesca and son Tilden); and niece, Lorraine Chao.

In honor of Show-Chi's wishes, only a private family service has been scheduled.

The pavilion at North Point in Taughannock Falls State Park was woven into the daily routine of Show-Chi and Shirley, a routine which brought them much joy. They relished kicking-off their days with separate early morning jogs, meeting at the pavilion and soaking in the vista before heading home together. It was also a favorite destination point for after-dinner family strolls. Family members have established a memorial fund for beautification of the pavilion at North Point in honor and memory of Show-Chi.
