Steven E. Welch

Steven E. Welch of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the age of 64.

Steven was born on September 24, 1953, a son of the late Edward and Tosca (Gori) Welch. He graduated from Trumansburg High School and immediately began working in construction and contracting. In his early 30’s, Steven began running his own contracting business, S.E.W. Contracting Inc., and was successfully still operating the business. A man of many talents, Steven had an appreciation for how things worked and were constructed. He was a great mechanic and meticulous carpenter, always calculating measurements accurately and quickly. A nature lover, he enjoyed spending time outside watching birds, caring for his horses, gardening, and golfing. Steven was a lifetime member of the NRA and Republican Party and loved engaging in political conversation.

More than anything, Steven treasured time spent with his closest family and friends. He had a huge heart, was always willing to lend a hand, and loved his family unconditionally.

Steven is survived by his wife, Elena Welch; children, Jennifer (Waylon) Swanson and Carl Clifford (Nicole) Hubbell; five grandchildren, Teya Deas, Kash Kenneth Steven Swanson, Emma Swanson, and Carlee and Paxton Hubbell; siblings, Linda Langley, Mark (Terry) Welch, David (Rhoda) Welch, and Laura (Bill) Hager; mother in law, Annabelle Seamon; brothers and sisters in law, Hayden Brainard Sr., Jeffrey (Rosie) Brainard, Paul (Kathy) Tunison, Amy (Cos) Cusimano, and Leon (Patty) Tunison; nieces and nephews, Chelsea (AJ) LeViere, Garrett (Lori) Welch, Brett (Ashley) Welch, and Ashleigh (Steven) Catalfamo; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his father in law, Paul Tunison Sr.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 East Main Street, Trumansburg. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg.
