Gertrude Townsend Carman Cammett of 931 Savage Farm Drive, Ithaca, (formerly of Geneva), passed away at Kendal in Ithaca on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the age of 86.

Born on January 20, 1916 in Ithaca, Gertrude was the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Franklin Townsend. Gertrude was raised on the family farm in the Trumansburg area.

Gertrude married Robert Carman and resided in Trumansburg. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses and was employed at
the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine

Several years after the death of her devoted husband, Robert Carman, Gertrude married Clifford E. Cammett and moved to Geneva. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Geneva and became active in the Knoxville Circle of the Presbyterian Woman's Association. She was also a member of the Geneva Historical Society and the Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes. After Clifford's death Gertrude moved to Kendal at Ithaca.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Gertrude was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Elizabeth who died from Tuberculosis in the Sanitarium where both Gertrude and Elizabeth were being treated many years ago.

She is survived by cousins and many dear friends.

A Graveside Service, at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, is planned for Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. W. James Gerling officiating.

A Memorial Service, in the Conference Room of Kendal at Ithaca, is planned for Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at 3:00 pm.

In keeping with Gertrude's wishes, no public calling hours have been scheduled.
