It is with great sadness that the family of Teresa P. (Terry) Kenney, of Mecklenburg, share the news of her passing and joining her beloved husband, Bill, on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Terry was born on October 17, 1934 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Francis and Anne (Ondis) Galica.
Terry had many passions. The most important was her dedication to raising her children and teaching them her many joys, which included gardening, sewing, woodworking and providing a healthy and happy home. She always added a special ingredient to everything she did. As her children grew, she disclosed that secret ingredient: “made with love”.
Terry had a love for music and enjoyed playing guitar at her church, the Parish of Mary, Mother of Mercy, St. James the Apostle Church in Trumansburg, where she was given Honors with Great Appreciation for providing more than thirty years of music for the Assembly’s Liturgical Celebrations. In raising her seven children, Terry was involved in most of their extra circular activities. Those included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA, and she also took on the role of the girls’ softball coach one year and followed it up by being the first woman baseball coach for a little league team. As the first woman little league baseball coach, she led her “Green” team to a championship season with a lot of hard work and determination.
Prior to retirement, she worked in the Trumansburg School District on the Head Start Program, the Mecklenburg Fire Departments Women’s Auxiliary and was also a co-owner with her husband of AgriCulver Seeds, Inc., where she traveled with him on deliveries, as well as did bookkeeping and conducted seed germination testing.
Teresa’s kindness and love will continue to grow through her seven children and their spouses, sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, eight great grandchildren and counting ….!
In keeping with Terry’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life Mass will be officiated by Fr. Bernard, OFM Caps on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Parish of Mary, Mother of Mercy, St. James the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 17 Whig St. Trumansburg. Prayers of committal will follow in St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a contribution in Teresa’s memory to the Parish of Mary, Mother of Mercy, St. James the Apostle Church.
