Terri Lee Harris, age 64, of Ithaca died at Cayuga Medical Center on Monday, October 12, 2015.

She was born in Ithaca on November 1, 1950, the only child to Frank and Mildred “Mickey” Martin. She grew up living at the Cornell Law School, where her parents were the live in custodians. Later she married Jeffrey Harris in the Law School Moot Court Room on March 22, 1986. She loved to tell stories of all the adventures and people she had met while living at the Law School.

Terri graduated from Ithaca High School in 1969. She was a member of the first Practical Nursing Class of Tompkins County Community College, receiving her degree in 1971. Terri worked at Tompkins County Hospital (Cayuga Medical Center) for three years and Cortland Memorial Hospital for 12 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1985 she retired from nursing due to her health.

She loved to dance, country music, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s rock music, and riding motorcycle with her husband. Terri loved people and loved to give hugs. “Watch out God-She has a big hug for you!”

She was a member of the 39ers Camping Club, the Square-A-Naders Square Dance Club of Newfield, the Seneca Chief Motorcycle Club of Schuyler County, and the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church.

Terri is survived by her loving and caring husband, Jeffrey Harris of Ithaca; her loving and caring mother, Mildred “Mickey” Martin of Ithaca; caregiver, longtime friend, cousin in-law and helper whenever needed, Marlene Hauptfleisch of Endwell; in-laws, Bill and Ann Harris of Brooktondale; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; three nieces; two nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Martin in 1990.

This is me speaking. I would like to thank my wonderful husband for loving me and taking care of me as he did. God really sent me a very special man. I loved you with all my heart. Mom you were the best. I would never have made it this far without you. I loved you so much. To my friends and family, thank you for being a part of my life. Each of you made it richer.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 17, 2014 at the Jacksonville United Methodist Church, 1869 Trumansburg Road, Trumansburg with Rev. Enid Zollweg officiating. Prayers of committal will immediately follow in Frear Memorial Park.
