Mark V. "Skillet" Mullen, 44, of 300 Halseyville Road, Ithaca passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20, 2004.
Born on November 1, 1959 in Poughkeepsie, New York, Mark was the son of James and Nancy Sammartino Mullen of Hyde Park. Mark was raised in Wappinger's Falls and worked for the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY for 17 years. In 2000 Mark helped open the Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus.
A loving father and husband, Mark cherished the times spent with his family. He was a black belt and an instructor in Martial Arts and an accomplished musician. Mark also enjoyed cooking and drawing cartoons and caricatures of family and friends. His vibrant personality and fun-loving spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved Mark.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his wife of 7 years, Laurie L. McHenry Mullen; two daughters, Kaitlyn and Jessica; one sister, Pamela Mullen of Hyde Park, and three brothers, Rob and Rick of Hyde Park and Jim of Wappinger's Falls.
The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Saturday, July 24, 2004 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
The family will also receive their friends at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls on Monday, July 26, 2004 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 10:00 am.
An education fund for Mark's children has been established. Contributions to this fund, in Mark's memory, may be made to: Tompkins Trust Company, ATTN: TRACY VANDERZEE, P.O. Box 702, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
