Valerie Elaine Thompson

Valerie Elaine Thompson of Ovid passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the age of 64.

Valerie was born in Ithaca on June 16, 1959, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Jane (Holford) Thompson. She worked at a variety of places including Lake Side Nursing Home, where she made lifelong friends, Happy Landing in Interlaken as a waitress and donut maker, and most recently as an aide at South Seneca School District. Valerie’s hobbies included crocheting, scrapbooking, and song writing. Most of all, she will be remembered as a dedicated mother and family member.

Valerie is survived by her four children, Rose Renee Riley, Christina Riley, Anthony Jay (Amanda) Riley, and Cole (Anna) Leonard Thomas Porter; eleven grandchildren, Leif (Lexann), Aiden, Brandon (Jen), Kaitlyn, Casey, Deprise, Bailey (Steven), Bethany, Juliene (Jamie), Connor, and Liberty; six great grandchildren, Autumn, Dean, Ava, Cali Jo, Christopher, and Lorelei; siblings, Deb Thompson, Kenneth (Christina) Thompson, Dave (Linda) Thompson, Cindy McDowell, and Jon (Susan) Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Brian Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, August 6 at the Interlaken Sportsman’s Club, 8561 Tunison Road, Interlaken. A Graveside Service will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, August 7 at Grove Cemetery.
