Viola “Vi” M. Miller of Ithaca passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Cayuga Medical Center at the age of 88.

Viola was a 55 year resident of the Ulysses community. She was employed by Morse Borg Warner for 40 some years before her retirement in 1985. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading and gardening. Viola was a loving mother who leaves behind her son, William L. (Darlene) Miller of Manasquan, NJ and her daughter, Carol Ann (James) Olsefski of Ithaca.

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jason (Joy) Miller of Kirrery Point, ME, Gabriel (Sarah) Miller of Lubbock, TX, Garrett (Kristie) Miller of Eagle, CO, Matthew (Jenn) Olsefski of Billingham, WA, Tammie Olsefski of Ithaca and Tish Williams of Ithaca; her special grandson Nolan Thomas Miller of Manasquan, NJ; great grandchildren, Henry Jay Miller, Oscar Wilton Miller, Shai Benjamin Fuller, Abigail Virginia Fuller and Ashlynn Jane Miller; sisters, Lois (Judd) Housley of Tulsa, OK, Barbara (John) McGuire of Hickory, NC, and Patricia (Charles) Dutton of Rheinlander, WI; special niece Viola “Sue” (Horst) Albrecht of Avondale, AZ; her close friends John Cooper, Pat Baker, and Irene Chaffee; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other friends.

In addition to her parents, Floyd and Bertha Swansbrough, Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Oscar L. Miller in June of 1992; brothers, William, Harry, and Richard Swansbrough; and a sister, Betty Louise Royce.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 to Noon on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will immediately follow, at noon, at the funeral home. Prayer of Committal will be held in Hayts Cemetery.
