Isabel Waring Kirkpatrick of 428 E. Enfield Center Road, Ithaca passed away at the Lakeside Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the age of 84.
Born on June 8, 1919 in Glasgow, Scotland, Isabel was the daughter of James Reid Thomson and Helen Wilson Thomson. She moved to the Ithaca area in 1954 from Long Island and had worked at Cornell University until her retirement in 1974.
Isabel enjoyed the many friends made through her memberships in the First Presbyterian Church, Ithaca, the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1253, Ithaca. She was also proud to be a member and past Matron of Trumansburg Star Chapter #479 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also an avid bowler in earlier years.
Golfing was a favorite past time for Isabel and it garnered her a plaque from the Hillendale Golf Club on September 16, 1979 for a "hole-in-one" shot with a distance of 135 yards on the 7th hole.
Preceding Isabel in death were her husbands, William Waring on January 13, 1971 and Clarence Kirkpatrick on March 9, 1999. She is survived by one son, James Reid (Theresa) Waring; one daughter, Ellen Eadie Ricketson; one brother, James Reid Thomson; four grandchildren, Carl A. (Christa Siering) Ricketson, Robert H. (Mia) Ricketson, James Reid Waring, II and Lora Lee (Tom) Love and one great-granddaughter, Alanna Ricketson.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Billie Jean Melton officiating. Members of the OES Chapter #479 will also participate with a Tribute of Flowers Ceremony.
