Wescena A. Smith of Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 87.
Wescena was born in Ithaca on September 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Clara (Letts) Westbrook. She worked at GIAC for many years and was a member of the Trumansburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Wescena enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a large collection of dolls, some of which she made herself. Spending time with grandchildren and family at gatherings and summers picnics were moments that were always cherished by Wescena.
Wescena is survived by four children, Sharan (Jim) Stoddard, Robert “Butch” Smith, Dawn (Don) Smith, and Terry (Debbie) Smith; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; four siblings, Kenneth (Dawn) Westbrook, Joan (Harvey) Smith, Shirley (Richard) West, and Richard (Betty) Westbrook; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Wescena was preceded in death by her husband, Orris C. Smith in 1987; and a son, Kenneth Smith.
The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 4, 2015 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church. Prayers of Committal will follow in Frear Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 770 at 1:00pm.
