Zdravko Lukic

Zdravko “Val” Lukic', age 82, of 1535 Trumansburg Rd., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Val was born on August 25, 1935, in the small village of Grabovo, of the Vojvodina province of Serbia, former Yugoslavia. He is the son of the late Stevan and Vuka Lukic'. He came to America at the age of 21 and was a machinist at Morse Chain for 40 years. He was a dedicated employee and it was there that he met his wife of 53 years, Carol Slater. Val was a devoted husband and father. Family was everything to him and he talked to his children and grandchildren daily. He was on a bowling league, an expert mechanic, and all-around fix-it man. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. His generosity and willingness to help anyone in need was unparalleled. He was a truly selfless man and his absence will be felt by all.

He is survived by his children, Elaine Lukic, Denver, CO; BarbaraSue Darrah, Interlaken, NY; Tom (Nan) Lukic, Norfolk, VA; Sofiya (Tom) Glidden, Trumansburg, NY; Marica Lukic' Berlenbach, Egg Harbor Twp, NJ; 12 grandchildren, Angie Durham, Michael Darrah, Melissa (Mik) Glidden, Jeremiah (Mayra) Glidden, Christie (Peter) Glidden Wright, Christopher, Zoe, and Jack Lukic, Zdravko, Marko, Nikola, and Maksim Berlenbach; nine great-grandchildren, and Smilja Lukic', Tuvedzic's and Konjevic’s. Val was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol Slater (2012), his brother Radovan and sister Soka.

The family will receive friends at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Trumansburg, on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM; a funeral service will then follow at 2:00PM at the funeral home. Prayers of committal will be held privately at Frear Memorial Park.
